Across 26 matches, Beijing delivered a powerful and consistent season, recording 18 victories, 5 defeats, and 3 drawsto accumulate 57 points. Their nearest challengers, Istanbul, finished well behind on 44 points, leaving Beijing with a decisive 13-point advantage as they secured the title.
A League Controlled From the Top
From early in the season, Beijing established themselves as the team to beat. Their ability to convert chances into victories allowed them to steadily pull away from the chasing pack while rivals battled closely behind.
The fight for second place remained competitive throughout the campaign. Istanbul secured the runner-up position with 13 wins, while Sydney (39 points) and Seoul (38 points) completed the top four. Clubs such as Chlef, Hong Kong, Brisbane, and Riyadh remained tightly grouped in mid-table, all finishing around the mid-30 point mark.
Further down the standings, Singapore and Johannesburg struggled to keep pace, while Kyoto and Lagos endured difficult seasons near the bottom of the table.
Hoilett Leads the Champions’ Attack
Central to Beijing’s title-winning campaign was the prolific form of Eddy Hoilett, who finished among the league’s leading scorers.
Hoilett delivered an outstanding attacking season, scoring 19 goals in just 22 appearances. His attacking influence was reflected in his impressive shooting numbers, producing 102 shots with 49 on target while maintaining a strong scoring rate throughout the campaign.
Hoilett’s ability to convert chances consistently gave Beijing the cutting edge that separated them from their competitors, often providing decisive goals in key matches.
Beijing also benefited from contributions across the squad, with teammate Torsten Werner adding 9 goals, providing additional attacking support during the season.
Strong Competition Across the League
Although Beijing dominated the title race, the league featured several standout attacking performances. David Kager of Istanbul scored 15 goals, while Claudio Oyarzn of Chlef added 13 and Jaroslav Honka of Brisbane contributed 10 goals.
Sydney also saw notable production from Jaime GonzBlez, who scored 8 goals, helping the Australian side secure a top-three finish.
