Tehran goes top. Can it complete remarkable turnaround?

Tehran has never won RoW’s top division. But the club could possibly complete a remarkable comeback to take its first ever championship trophy. 

By mid-season, RoW looked all sewn up by the region’s powerhouse, Beijing. Unstoppable and with a lead of 7pts at one point, the race for the title looked finished. However, the club has rapidly collapsed at the close of season, with no wins in the last five games. Remarkably, Beijing hasn’t scored a single goal in these five games either. 

By contrast, Tehran has five wins in these last six games. This late run of form has allowed the Iranian club to bypass Beijing, and it now sits on top with a 3 point lead and a better goal difference. 

A favorable schedule means Tehran is now favorite to take the title. An unpredictable turnaround, but the club will need to hold its never for the last three games.

For Sunday’s game, Beijing has four players out, which together with its poor form spells trouble for the Chinese club.

Could Tehran finally take the title? Legendary striker Humphreys (16 goals this season) has been the stand out player at the club for a decade, and he could finally lead his club to the title at the ripe age of 31.
